setting default app for CSS files

Asked by Bootfinder

I've tried the obvious for this (right click on the file in nautilus, select properties, open with and setting gedit as the default app), but when I double click the CSS file it still gives me the option of either "running" it (???) or displaying it (which means opening it with gedit), but it does not open directly with gedit!
I know it's not a major problem, but I find it extremely irritating! How do I solve this?

Which Ubuntu and Nautilus version you're using ?

I've just tested on my system (Ubuntu 12.04 / Nautilus 3.4.2) and I was able to set Gedit as a default program to open .css files.

I've got Ubuntu 12.04.2 and whatever version of nautilus that comes with it...
in fact every time I double click on any text file (php, css, inc even txt!) it come up with a question asking if I want to run it or display the contents!

yes, that solved it, thank you.
(I still don't understand why it should regard text files as executable though)
