mounted HDD partition sync

Asked by Konrad C R Stevens

I recently created a new partiotion after a kernel failure to load Ubuntu 12.10 on. I can access the files thru the Partioton thats mounted but i want to sync them with my home folders so ie my music is in the music folder etc without moving the files to the main partiotion holding my OS is there a way to do this? Or do i need to set up a fresh install on a larger partition to do so I am new to linux so just figurin this stuff out and Ive had two crashes where ive lost almost everything so i have 3 partitions ones 30 gb the other two are 235 a piece about and i want to format one and use it to store my media only on so that its seperate from my OS files like i did in windows is this redundant?

The OS is called Ubuntu, not Unbunto.

You can symlink the folder into your Music and Pictures folder. When you access the link it will present the data as if it were local but in fact it is not. The OS is unaware of the storage quirk as the kernel manages it all and is transparent
