Ubuntu 12.04 LTS hangs and freeze

Asked by Franco

After upgrading to Linux 3.2.0-39 System always hangs and freeze after the log in.
The problem occurs with Linux 3.2.0-39-generic-pae and Linux 3.2.0-39-generic.
Whem system freeze I can still use my wireless keyboard and mouse but any action is not allowed or at least is not dislaid. I managed to reboot using the keyboard.
I can share the syslog and any information might be required to troubleshoot the problem.

When system boot from linux 3.2.0-38-generic the problem does not occur, however a system error is reported and another window is opened warning that 'precise' is no longer supported.
Following are some of the info that system automatically collect and send it out. Not sure if the two issues are correlated or are the same.

Executable path: /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4.3
Problem type Crash
Title: [sandybridge-gt-1] GPU locup render.IPEHR:0x54f08806
ApportVersion 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.1

if you need all set of information please advice how to collect them

I will also chare the logs that include first the hangs in Linux 3.2.0-39 and the error when I reboot in Linux 3.2.0-38

kind regards
Franco
