What is a good version of Ubuntu for my system?

Asked by Martha Row

I have a Dell laptop with a AMD Athlon II P360 Dual-Core Processor with 4 GB RAM, running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, Kernel Linux 2.6.32-46 generic-pae, Gnome 2.30.2, its also a wireless 10 mbps internet connection.

This system is a dual boot system with Win7 64-bit OS. The linux is a 32-bit OS.

Now for the question: Is there a 64-bit Ubuntu OS for an AMD system?

I read on Launchpad that there is an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS that has a 64-bit OS, could this be an option for me?

I am a new Linux convert and I don't want to go back to Microsoft land, if at all possible!!

Thanx in advance for any and all answers.
