/dev/sda says "Permission denied"

Asked by srikanth hannabeprakash

I recently wanted to resize my partition in windows but found that I was unable to delete the partition where I installed Ubuntu.Later after that I restarted the stystem and then on It showed Grub Error 17. So I saw http://stringofthoughts.wordpress.com/2009/05/24/grub-error-17-debianubuntu/
and ended up with your wesite and installed Ubuntu in live mode as well but when I tried fdisk/dev/sda it says "command not found"
but using /dev/sda it says "Permission Denied".I want to fix Grub error and use ubuntu as it was earlier. How do I it?

Hi srikanth hannabeprakash,

apparently the answer #2 , you can also use the boot-repair program. An automatically repair program for grub bootloader.

Boot from a Live Ubuntu media (USB/CD/DVD) and follow the simple instructions in the following link
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair#A2nd_option_:_install_Boot-Repair_in_Ubuntu

Focus on the second option (link I gave).
