Ubuntu 12.10's print dialog does not allow setting a custom dpi, while printing through The GIMP does

Asked by peterrus

Whenever I print an image through Ubuntu's print dialog I can not change the DPI / resolution of the printed item. I only get these options:

Then, when I print through The Gimp I get a similar dialog, with more/other sizing options:

In my case I need this functionality to print at 300dpi, which is not what is happening by default. Setting the printing resolution through the Gimp dialog works perfect though.
