From what I've read it seems aMule can be a bit of a resource hog..

What sort of speeds are you downloading/uploading at?

It may just be a matter of limiting the upload speed in aMule, in order to stop it hogging all the bandwidth.

David,
Thanks for your answer. Could you please tell me step by step how do I do this operation that you describe?
Many thanks
Marco

First of all open up aMule and click on the 'Preferences' button on the top menu.

Now in the preferences window on the left hand side, select 'Connection'.. in here you can set limits on how much bandwidth aMule will use.

The option you want to set is 'Upload', set this to a speed that's about half the upload speed of your Internet connection.. give that a try and see is Firefox is any quicker.

Failing this you could also try lowering the 'Max Connections' setting on the same page.

I can't guarantee changing these preferences will solve your problem, but it's worth a try.

Thanks David,
I could not reduce the 'Upload' number as this was already set to three that seems to be the minimum (?) value for the parameter. Instead I reduced the number of Max Connections to 300 and apparently this solved the problem.
Thanks again
