boot hangs at (etc/rc.local)

Asked by StuartGardner

My Ubuntu install is on a Laptop. The DVD drive does not function on this laptop. The install was completed on a different laptop using the hard drive from the chosen laptop. The hard drive was then reinstalled to the current laptop.

When booting it gets to Running Local Boot Scripts (/etc/rc.local) thens hangs.

The problem could be a problem with your X-Server settings.

Boot Ubuntu in Recovery Mode and then execute:-
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Select any choices that match with the current system especially the VGA driver, after the reconfiguration is complete, try out the settings by executing:-
startx
