showing ink levels on printer with ubuntu

Hi,
I have an Epson Stylus SX218 & it runs perfectly with Ubuntu!
The problem I have is I need to be able to check the ink levels. I've read a couple of earlier posts referring to mtink & escputil & tried to install both of them but with no success!
Any help greatly appreciated.....
