Multiple 12.04 issues.

Asked by ken brockman

Troubles with Ubuntu 12.04:

Hidden files show up in Cairo Folder view even though show hidden files is turned off in Cairo.

Unity Bar shows up in all desktops including Cairo dock (do not show unity) and all Gnome desktops.

Icon and text are over lapping when scrolling folders and apps.

Desktop freezes and locks up, have to do a hard boot to get out of it.

Mouse is slow and erratic in log on window.

No applications locations menu's on top menu bar in Gnome.

Can not set graphics to safe mode when booting in repair mode.

Not sure how to categorize these issues. Not sure if it is a Cairo problem, Ubuntu issue or something else. I've had issues with my graphics card, ( Radeon HD 6450 ) since installing it 3-4 months. Have tried Default Ubuntu drivers and several ATI drivers as well, all have their problems, from a black screen to jittery icons on Cairo and software center over layed on top on the icon for recently opened files.

Anyone have any idea's. I would appreciate any help I may get..

If you install gnome-panel and log off. Then login to the new session you should then be able to launch Cairo there. You may need to run:

compiz --replace

To get compiz started (or use xcompmgr)

Could also try the Unity2D session first. This requires no extra packages

Can you help with this problem?
