Uninstalling without Windows CD

I'm running Ubuntu doing the GRUB thing, and I want to uninstall it. However, I have one of two options:

1. The reason I want to uninstall it is because I can't boot to the GUI desktop, or

2. I don't have my Windows CD. Can I use someone else's disk to fix it, or do it without the CD?

First I wanna give you a simple advice, if you can get to the login screen (the nongraphical) and be able to login then run:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and when asked for video driver chose vesa or some other old driver.

And to answer your real question, to delete Ubuntu you could use a Ubuntu Live CD but Partition Magic works or any partition software will do.

Don't forget to restart ;)

I also forgot how to exactly restore the original Windows bootloader but it shouldn't be hard to fix.

pls note that if you do not recover your Windows bootloader and still delete the partition where Ubuntu resides, you will not be able to boot again and will need additional steps to boot.

you could use a friend's windows cd, go to the recovery console, and switchback to the Windows bootloader with fixmbr
