The CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz. It's a Dell Inspiron box (unfortunately). I installed all software updates yesterday right after installing the OS. I mean all suggested ones as per the defaults of the software update center.

It's a dual boot and on the Windows 7 boot both displays seamlessly operate. Ubuntu was installed from Windows, using the wubi tool.

Hi @matan. Can you test please with a live media of Ubuntu ?
The procedure is simple.

1) Download Ubuntu 12.04.2 or Ubuntu 12.10 from here : http://releases.ubuntu.com/

2) From whithin Windows follow this procedure to create a Live-USB stick
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

3) Boot into BIOS configuration page and set as first boot device the USB-stick.
OR
If you have "One boot key" then select the Usb-stick from there.

See if you graphics works ok.

If yes , then it might be a good idea to install Ubuntu regulary and not into Windows(wubi.exe).

If you want support for the installation process (dual-boot Windows Ubuntu - No wubi.exe) , just let me know.

I'd like to first add that in the "about this computer" window that's available on the 'system menu' at very the top right of the desktop, it shows on the main screen "Graphics Unknown", and on the Graphics screen it shows "Driver Unknown" and "Experience Standard". Do any of those provide any indication for a problem? I'd rather avoid re-installation. Is there any reason why a clean installation would do better than Wubi, and why the graphic system can't be further customized to seamlessly work after the OS had been initially installed by Wubi?

The screen also gets totally scrambled when resuming from a "suspend" (which is the closest I could find to Windows' hibernate function). That's the easiest way to consistently reproduce the problem. If I use just one monitor, the scrambling usually starts only late enough into the day. I still think this should be solvable rather than re-installing the system, and looking for some feedback about how it could be done.

Repeating the question as simply saying 'reinstall the system' didn't totally make sense.
Screen elements become scrambled after a while's work till the screen becomes totally unusable.
This behavior consistently occurs after each reboot. The system was not tweaked in any way, but it was installed with Wubi.
