Ubuntu 12.10 inside Windows 7

Asked by Renju

When the system starts, it displays a selection screen to choose between Ubuntu and Windows 7 with Ubuntu highlighted.
After 6 seconds it will start Ubuntu. How can I change the order i.e., I want to start Windows 7 as first choice and Ubuntu the second choice.

Go to /etc/default/grub and edit the line for the default OS there

Hi ,
what is the title for ? When I see "Ubuntu 12.10 inside Windows 7" my mind goes to wubi.exe installation.

Consider to change the title to something more related to your question , eg: "How to change the boot order in grub"

As for the order of boot , you can change this with a program which is named : Grub-Customizer.

Installation from terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) , execute the commands below (copy-paste from here one by one)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install -y grub-customizer

Then open it and move the entry you want (in you case Windows) first , on top. Click on SAVE and thats it.

Thank you.

@jeet , you cannot change the boot order from /etc/default/grub .
