That depends ion which desktop you use

If you use Unity which is the default desktop in Ubuntu then click the top icon in the dash and start typing "update" without the quotes. Before you finish typing it will appear

If you use the Gnome Classic Desktop Then from the menu "Applications" > "System Tools" > "Administration" > "Update Manager".

If you use something else then let us know what and one of us should be able to help

You can also access update-manager from terminal .

Open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and write this command

update-manager
