.dat movie file
hello,I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 in my laptop.
I've tried to play .dat movie file with totem, mplayer,
I wrote in terminal:
pyan@pyan-laptop:~$ totem /media/
sh: jackd: not found
** Message: Error: Could not read from resource.
gstfilesrc.c(814): gst_file_
system error: Input/output error
so I downloaded 'jackd' from internet and installed it in my machine.
and this result appear:
pyan@pyan-laptop:~$ totem /media/
JACK tmpdir identified as [/dev/shm]
** Message: Error: Could not read from resource.
gstfilesrc.c(814): gst_file_
system error: Input/output error
can anyone help me?

I cannot copy to hard drive.this message appear:
Error "I/O error" while copying "/media/

Then this is most probably a bug: https:/
Maybe the workaround down there would work. However you'd need to compile and install the cdfs filesystem, Here you can find the sources including installation instructions: http://
It is also possible that some ripping software might help.

hello,
after a few work,my problem solved.
Now I can play the '.dat' file with gxine or xine media player.
And I installed the 'vcdtools' from synaptic. After that I open the gxine or xine media player and select 'vcd' and gxine or xine media player play the .dat file automatically.

Great you've solved it. I'll link this thread to the bug report, so that those that find it can try your solution too.
