Screens and graphics, 2 screens? One video card

If I only have one graphics card shoiuld the "Screens and Graphics Preferences" show me the option of having 2 screens? I would think that it would give me the default option of 1 screen

Yes, it normal shows two screens (but the selection of second screen is not "active"). I think it is e.g. for laptops - some people have extra one. It is also usefull if you often use projector etc.
