how to recover files deleted with Gnome commander

While cleaning up I notested a directory with the dame ex. So I deleted it using Gnome commander. (not all deleted). This directory was apparntly pointing to other dirctories and I deleated all of my xbmc tv files (hundreds !!) Is any recorvery possible? The files don't show up in trash.

I recommend you use your backups. This will give an assured way to restore your data.

Failing that, try foremost in a liveCD, you will need a wriatble partition of equal size to the partition which stored the original data, this will spit every file it finds (including the standing ones) to the partition. You will lose location data as well as file name and the data may be corrupted.

Backups are by far the easiest way.
