It uses GTK3. You'll need GTK3 themes

Yes , GTK3 ..

search here for GTK3 :
http://gnome-look.org/

Gnome-shell themes are specifically for the gnome-shell environment (means No Unity present) and maybe not apply Full at your Environment. (If your environment is Unity).

Thanks

I am logged in using Classic Gnome desktop. Does that matter?

If you using gnome-classic then you will need GTK3

BUT

if you using gnome-classic (no-effects) then you will need GTK2 , because gnome-classic (no-effects) uses "metacity" instead of compiz.

Thanks
