problem with skype 2.0.0.27 in ubuntu 7.10

i am able to get voice form the other but my voice does not reach the other
even in skype test call my voice is not played back
there is no problem with my microphone settings
i am able to record my voice with voice recorder
i installed it using synaptic thru medibuntu reprository

Have you tried changing the sound capture device in Skype? Perhaps it is trying to use the wrong device by default.

To check this, open Skype, and click on the Skype 'S' at the bottom left, and click Options. Go to Sound Devices, and check the Sound Out dropdown. Try changing it from Default to the different devices to you see there, and make Skype test calls to see if you can hear yourself.
