bcmwl-kernel-source not working after kernel upgrade to version 3.5.0-17-generic -> Broadcom BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (14e4:4328) Rev3 wireless adapter not working on Apple iMac7,1 (2008) in Ubuntu 12.10
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit edition and when I updated to the current kernel (3.5.0) my Broadcom BCM4321 802.11 a\b\g\n wireless card was not recognized. I had no problem with the 32 bit version of Ubuntu but seeing as I have a 64-bit system I would like to use all of it's capabilities. Any ideas how to fix this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Please first connect your wired network adapter to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1:
If you are using the Gnome interface, open the Terminal console via "Applications-
If you are using the Unity interface, the easiest way to open the Terminal is to use the 'search' function on the dash. Or you can click on the 'More Apps' button, click on the 'See more results' by the installed section, and find it in that list of applications. A third way, available after you click on the 'More Apps' button, is to go to the search bar, and see that the far right end of it says 'All Applications'. You then click on that, and you'll see the full list. Then you can go to Accessories > Terminal after that.
The methods in Unity are:
Press Control-ALT-T key combination.
Dash > Search for Terminal
Dash > More Apps > 'See More Results' > Terminal
Dash > More Apps > Accessories > Terminal
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep rfkill; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scan | egrep -i 'chan|ssid'; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Step 4: Please also mention the exact model and make of your PC (if possible).
Regards,
Mark

Please run these commands in a Terminal:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-
sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source
sudo modprobe -r wl
sudo modprobe wl
Then retest wireless.
I think you need to run those commands after every kernel update. I do not think that bcmwl-kernel-source is working correctly after kernel updates in Ubuntu 12.10. It needs a manual intervention like this....
I hope it helps.

Thanks so much for the help this worked. It also appears that they fixed the problem in the kernel update 3.5.0.23
