fast help

I would like to request tht now i hv OS of XP but i hv done other partition to use ubuntu7.10 in my laptop were by i want to hv two OS so can u pls tell me wht i do it seems when i come to select partition it says entire partition selection and when i go manually there i can see my partition which i created but when i select tht it says tht "No root file system is defined" so i cant go further bcs of hanging in middle so pls help me out so tht i continue

Are you using the liveCD or the Alternate one, both give you the chance to resize you actual windows partition and use the free space for linux.

You at least need two partitions one big root ext3 partition and a swap partition ~size of your ram. Specify / as the mount point for the big partition.

hello thnks for your reply now iam getting problem is i cant log inn and even the password is not accepting can any one help me out iam using ubuntu 7.10 so pls help me out. thnks
