PlayonLinux - MSOffice 2007 error on Ubuntu 12.10

Asked by budi machribie

Dear Sir,

I'm using UBUNTU 12.10 Windows 7 64 bit on my PC

When closing Word I got the following error message

1.This feature requires MSXML 5.0 properly installed- Run Setup and click repair to restore the component
2.A file error has occured (c:\users\..\Template\Normal.dotm)
3.Changes have been made that affect the global template Normal/\.dotm
4.Word encountered a problem while trying to save the document

I've no problems with Ubuntu 11.10 though

Any suggestions

Thank you

Budi M

Did you check the wine appdb for compatibility?

Did you also try renaming the normal.dot file? It's a common fix for MS Office issues.

@actionparsnip

Thanks for your quick response

I have 3 additional questions

1.How do I rename the normal.dot file?

2.From the site "wine + appdb + office it recommends wine 1.5.20 which is till in beta ..is it ok?

3.Browsing the internet I get the following information

I confirm that creating a win32 prefix fixes that issue.
I was having it on Fedora 16 x64.

the following command did the trick:
WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/path/to/wineprefix winecfg >> how do I do it?

Sorry for the problem :)

Thanks

Strange enough though I could delete the POL Virtuel drive those icons of word-PowePoint etc are still in the Dash and active >> how do I delete them..?

Running the Microsoft Office Diagnostics >> None of the Microsoft Office Diagnostics found any problem

Sorry I gave up ..nothing works
Perhaps in later version of Ubuntu this is no more a problem

Thanks for your attention and cooperation
