can i use ubuntu on a android tablet ? it is not a tablet phone

purchased a karbonn android tablet model smart tab-10 cosmic. like to install ubuntu os .will it work on the karbonn android tablet?

I'd imagine so. It's still Android. Not sure if it is restricted to certain models of system but we'll see

as i said it is a android tablet without sim. manufactured by karbonn and the model is smart tab 10 - cosmic.
all i want to know to install a ubundu os same as windows xp professional 2003. for my work it is more than enough. can you tell me which ubundu os should i select to serve my purpose.

I think you need to install the OMAP4 image using these instructions:

Compressed desktop OS image can be downloaded here:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/ubuntu-12.04-preinstalled-desktop-armhf+omap4.img.gz

I think you will need a 4GB SD card to install the 12.04 image.

If the OMAP4 image does not work on your tablet, then I suggest trying the OMAP3 version instead.

Here is the OMAP3 image:
