Why the same question twice?

First try to check your CD - in the menu is option like "Check CD for Defects" or so.

You can also try to boot with some parameters - noapic nolapic acpi=off - in the menu press F6 and write this parametres.

It would help us to know your hardware.

I am sorry, I thought that you can see the menu. What do you mean by "ubuntu loading screen"?

Could you get more information about the "DOS" message (whole text or so).

by ubuntu loading screen i mean the unumtu logo and an orange thing scrolling back and forth. the DOS like thing says:

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu7) Built-in shell (ash) enter "help" for a list of built in commands.
(initramfs)

the list of commands it gives is:

. : alias break cd chdir command continue echo eval exit export false getpots hash let local pxd read readonly teturn set shift times trap true type ulimit umask analias anset wait [ [[ ash basename busybox cat chmod chroot chvt clear cmp cp cut deallocvt dumpkmap echo egrep env expr false fbset fdflush hgrep grep hostname ifconfig ip kill ln loadfont loadkmap ls mkdir mkfifo mknod mkswap mktemp more mount mv openvt pidof printf ps pwd readlink reset rm rmdir sed setkeycodes sh sleep sort stat sync tail tee test touch tr true tty umount uname uniq wget yes

→ but if you can see this you have to see the menu, because its before this...

To your problem - it is similar to this bug - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.22/+bug/154591 - and there is also some solution.

I see just one way - try different CD, this one seemed to be defective...

Can you help with this problem?
