trying to play dvds

I am trying to use gxine to play dvds I get a error The xine engine failed to start. No demuxer found - stream format not recognised.

I am a newbe with Linux I am running gutsy

u should install kubuntu restricted plugins although u r in ubuntu because gxine depends on xine which is preset in kubuntu
it can be done through Add/Remove in ur apps menue
did u install the Medibuntu package
if u have not the google the word 'installing medibuntu in ubuntu'
medibuntu is very essential when u want to play some encrypted DVD's
that also has a skype phone-to make voice and video calls, it has google earth, and the host of other packs

Or, you could just make it simple and install VLC.
