How do you know which to choose on Ubuntu install?

Asked by sandra.bodkin

Hi!
I started installing Ubuntu and realised that I have two hard disks. One has Windows XP on it (C:) and it is only 9.30 gig. The second hard disk is used to store other applications and files related to Windows and this takes up approx. 2gig on a 20 gig hard drive. I don't know which option to choose to repartion as I want to install Ubuntu to the second hard drive but want to use about 10 gig. The choices offered don't seem to include this kind of problem. I am new to this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:

I don't understand your problem. But the Ubuntu CD comes with a program to repartition your disk. 10Gb its plenty, to try it. Then you can decide.
Is that your concern?

From the install wizard, first select the hard drive you want, then slide the slider to shrink the partition and use free space.

Thanks! I'll follow the steps in this link. Maybe I just didn't read the instructions right.
