usb pendrive error

Asked by paolode

when i insert a usb pendrive to mount, I receive this error message: "DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending" on ubuntu 12.04, hp pavilion dv6 t7700, tdk 4gb usb key, cinnamon desktop. then pendrive works normally after a while. when I do unmount/expel, the system doesn't show a message like: "it is now possible to take your pendrive off" or similar. may be it doesn't work properly; processes locks or are redundant or so.

How did you put Ubuntu on the USB?

no, I didn't. ubuntu is os installed on hard disk, working from there. I was running ubuntu and inserted the pendrive to copy some files. It gives often some problems by mounting or unmounting usb external drives. sometimes it doesn't mount correctly, sometimes it doesn't unmount correctly (or doesn't inform it can be safely removed).

Hello
I would suggest you to take backup of your data on pen drive and then format it using disk utility in ext4 file system you will experience higher speed while file transfer and most of your problems will be solved immediately

If you have already formatted your pen drive in ext4 format then please format it into NTFS file format and then again into Ext4 File Format

This Will work if not contact me again
