connecting 2 computers through LAN

i am having kubuntu on my desktop and ubuntu on my laptop...
i have tata indicom broadband connection on my desktop....
now i want to connect my laptop and desktop through LAN cable so that i can share internet connection....
please help me...

Hello rahul
Connect your broadband connection(wire) to the RJ-11 port.
Connect your two computers to any of the 4 LAN ports.
That's it.

You can configure your "modem" by going to Modem page(EX: For huawei it is 192.168.1.1) after connecting one of the computers to it.

let me clear...
i have got tata indicom connection (broadband) to my desktop....it is through LAN port...
the desktop has kubuntu..
i have ubuntu on my laptop...
i have attatched one more LAN port to desktop...
now i have got LAN cable which is connected to extra LAN port of my desktop and LAN port of my laptop...
now i have to make proxy settings....so i need some agent which will connect two computers through LAN cable....
then only i can access internet on my laptop....
please help..

Please go to your router page as shown in the example above in my answer and configure your router..
