uninstall on Mac

Asked by Raj Panjwani

I have two drives in my G5. One with OSX Panther and the other with Ubuntu. I'd like to uninstall Ubuntu from the spare drive. Alternatively I can just reformat it but I'm worried that I won't be able to boot easily into OSX if I go down that root.

I have seen other posts refering to Windows machines that say you have to alter the BIOS. Will I have to do the equivilant in Panther?

If I recall correctly, Macs do not have a BIOS, or at least not one that you can configure. If you have backed up all your data, you can use your Mac OS X CD to format the drive and reinstall Mac OS X. If you format over the entire drive and reinstall, you should have a fresh installation of Mac OS X and wont have any problems with booting. If the spare drive is just being used for data, you can format it to a Mac-readable file system by either using the Ubuntu Live CD, the Mac OS X CD, or from within Mac OS X itself using disk utility. This will also cause data loss on that drive if you do not back up the data beforehand. I hope that helps!

Can you help with this problem?
