Headphone jack inoperative on Ubuntu 12.04.1 IntelMac
I don't get any sound out of my headphone jack on my 2006 vintage IntelMac 2Ghz Dual Core running Ubuntu 12.04.1. The speakers work well enough but tend to be a bit soft.
There is a red led shining out of the headphone jack hole. What's up with that?
Any assistance would be great. I love the 12.04 install on the IntelMac. The thing really screams and run XP in Virtualbox with no problems.

echo "options snd_hda_intel model=mbp3" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.
reboot to test. If it is no good, run:
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.
change:
options snd_hda_intel model=mbp3
To:
options snd_hda_intel position_fix=1
Save the new file, close gedit and reboot.
