looking for generic driver for canon i860. help?

According to http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi?make=Canon it looks like the i860 is not supported.

However there are also indications that it can be made to work:-

If that all looks a bit complicated you could try the BCJ7000 driver instead?

thanks for your suggestions; that's what happens when you buy a cheap
printer. think i'll invest a little more money... .
