connecting with dial up

can any1 help me with setting up a dial up connection on ubuntu 7.10...........smart modular technologies modem model 90109-2. i have filled in my username pass word and the number to wich my pc dials. I have know ideaa after that how to connect to the internet after that. when i was using windows i would have a icon i could click on and it gave me the opption to conect to the internet. i hope this is making sence. thanks for the help in advance

hi yoplate

go to system > Adminstration > Network
input password & get into the setup screen. Click help if u need further guidance.

thanks for the advice but ive done this and the help tab is really no help at all, any further advice would be appreciated

Maybe you should try calling your ISP for help, telling them why you fail to connect with the correct username and password, reminding them that your OS is Ubuntu linux.
