upgrade to 7.10 backups

I am about to upgrade from ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10
Should I backup evolution address book and items in my home directory as you would with a clean install or does the upgrade process look after this?
Have I answered my own question?

Hi:

Usually, (please read that again usually), the upgrade process doesn't mess up anything, it just does a huge upgrade of your system. But sometime (please read again sometimes), the system becomes unstable.
That is why I recommend to create a different partition for the /home
maybe this is a good time.
all you have to do is create space, or make a backup of your home, and then copy everything in the new /home partition
