How do I boot Linux in Mac OS X?

Asked by Riverrun

Thinking of Dual-booting Mac and Linux with a small partition for Zen walk. Tried booting the live CD by holding the C key down at start-up but it didn't work; it booted into Tiger. How would I boot a live CD in Mac Os X 10.4.11? I 'd like to try a few distros, I have a stack of them here, before settling on one. The CD I'm trying to boot was created with Gnome-baker on Feisty.

I wonder if I need to burn a Linux ISO in Mac to get it to work in Mac?

Found the answer, the burn was faulty. Tried another version of the same d/l and that worked. When I opened Iceweasel, found that the number lock was on. Tried toggling the fn key but it didn't work. So much for that, I'll chance another distro, I'm looking for something small and fast. I already have Ubuntu on a PC so I'd like to try something else. Pity about Zenwalk. It works really well in VirtualBox on my Mac. Odd that, that I can't turn the numberlock off.

That's another great thing about Linux, plenty of choice. Anyone recommend a small (500 Mb. or so) distro for Macbook?
