Why "force version" option greyed out

When I tried to install Eclipse on Ubuntu. The version on synaptic package manager is an older version. So I want to change the version through Package->force version. But the force version is grayed out. Why? And how should I make it work?

There is most likely no newer version available in the default Ubuntu install. You could try enabling backports if needed.
