problem install nvidia en7300gs in dapper amd64

having problems installing nvidia driver in amd64 ubuntu dapper have tried the nvidia drivers in repositories don't work have to manually eg xorg.conf after that x crashes so restore xorg.conf
have also tried the nvidia drivers from nvidia website and cannot find make to compile binary for the system need help getting it started.

if any other information is required let me know and will provide any information eg lspci motherboard info etc.

They work for me in Dapper. The installer will compile the module for your running Kernel.
