Try use the Z53 or z52 driver. They come with Ubuntu.

Having the same problem here. Ubuntu beautifully detects the fact that the printer is a Lexmark Z55 connected by USB cable, and then it recommends 4 different drivers.

The drivers are the Z51, Z52+Ghostscript, Z53+Ghostscript, and Z83. The Z51 and Z83 drivers report that they are for the Z5000 series of printers.

I was going to test the Z83 driver, but at that point the Z55 was no longer being detected.

Ben, Please create your own support request as it gets quite confusing when there is more then one per request.
