not recognizing ethernet card

My ethernet card is not being recognized. I performed a sudo ip link show command that did not acknowledge ethernet. I then used a discover -d command and again, no ethernet was recognized. I have tried to manually detect and autodetect the ethernet, but nothing works. I know I have it because on Windows, I had internet access. My next plan of action is probably going to try getting a new ethernet card. What should I do?

Have a look in Windows Control Panel - I think under System/Devices - to see what it thinks your card is.

Post the result, someone may be able to help.

The output of

lspci | grep -i ethernet

and

ifconfig

would also be useful.

I now have Ubuntu fully installed so I cannot get onto the Windows Control Panel.

There is no output to lspci | grep -i ethernet

and ifconfig outputs

Well, if it isn't even seen as a device then there isn't much to do except buy a new one.
