Hi,

do you have a new ipod or did you do a recent firmware update? Apple changed the fileformat in these firmwares which is only supported in versions after 0.6.0 of libgpod which is not included in gutsy.

Mine is a Fifth Generation, and I got it a couple of months ago. It's been at least a couple of weeks since I tried to update the firmware, but the last time I tried in iTunes it said everything is up-to-date.

What do I do next?

I am not sure if it already needs the new checksum, but you can try.

I assume the ipod is windows/fat formatted.

To make sure that rhytmbox and gtkpod do not interfere disable autostart of rhythmbox for portable music devices in gnome "System->Settings->Removable Media"

Then start gtkpod and plug in you ipod. It should then show a ipod in the tree on the left pane. When you select it you should see your music files on the ipod.

Computer -> IPod:

- Select "Add Files" in the Toolbar.
- When you are done right click on "iPod" in the left pane and select "Eject"

IPod -> Computer:

- Select a title in the ipod view
- Right click and select "Copy to directory"

It uploads a few songs, but several fail to load due to an error message...

Here's the sample error message:

Veritas-Victory Chant'
Template ('%o;%a - %t.mp3;%t.wav') does not match file type '/media/BRIAN'S IPO/iPod_Control/Music/F23/SSDB.m4a'
Failed to write 'Set Free, Michael Shamblin, Veritas-Where Do I Go'

It tries to read in the meta data from the filename and this does not work since the pattern is only for mp3 and wav defined.

Add ";%t.m4a" to the end of the template in the export to directory dialog.

if it still does not work try ";%t" (without quotes) in the end.

Can you help with this problem?
