Internet failure

Asked by Ramkumar

I am using Netgear modem and i have set the username and password inside the modem. So when the modem is switched on, it gets an active link with my service provider.

I have connected the modem to my pc using LAN.

I can see that my pc is connected to the modem and i can access the modem using mozilla but i cannot access internet using mozilla.

I also get 100% success response when using "ping google.com" in terminal.

I can access internet using windows XP but i couldn't with Ubuntu.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

the output is : nameserver 218.248.240.23

this is because i have manually entered my dns server ip every time i login.

else the output would be 192.168.0.1(My router ip).

is there any permanent solution.
