Keir Thomas has written an excellent book "Beginning Ubuntu Linux" which covers everything.

As already suggested, the Keir Thomas book is great.

I just picked up another great book called "Ubuntu Linux Toolbox", by Christopher Negus and Francois Caen. 1000+ commands for Ubuntu and Debian Power Users. It has a wealth of information for beginners and power users alike.

"The Official Ubuntu Book" is also an excellent read for those just getting started.
