i need wine for ubuntu but only have an internet connection on windows xp PC

Asked by Foaly

Dear sir/madam

when i try to run the install.exe or setup.exe on any programmes i get the message "no application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file." so i presumed i need wine. i go to download it and it gives you the link or message you type in, but i do not have an internet connection on the Ubuntu pc only my windows xp one. so i go to the download on windows and it is a .zip file which will not open on ubuntu because its for windows. can somebody give me the link or advice of how to download wine to an XP computer and transfer to a Ubuntu one?

your help will be much appreciated.
