when i go to instal ubuntu i get invalid compressed format err.2 unknown-block (104,1) im on a pentium 4cpu what should or can i do?

May be the burned cd.
Please check: the md5sum of burned cd, if you got error please burn another cd at lower speed you can do... (4x)

no i ordered the cd from ubuntu its fine used it on my old pc b4 it quit,but thanks for your response dave

Booting using the live cd

please do a memory test on that pc... (from 1.st live cd showed menu this: http://i18.tinypic.com/6tzzndc.jpg )

Using same menu try to perform a "Check cd for defect" on the destination pc.

If you get error try to temporary change cd-reader and try to install.
