Asked by João Santos

My sound board (nVidia Corporation CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller) doesn't work when I use alsa, but works fine when I use oss.

Try:
asoundconf set-default-card CK804
then:
asoundconf reset-default-card
for good measure.

Log out and back in, possibly reboot, though that would be overkill. I have
the same audio chipset.

I've already done that many times, but it still doesn't work. I got the problem when I upgraded to 7.10, and was trying to fixed by my self until now.

I solved the problem using:

amixer set IEC958 unmute
amixer set 'IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA' 0
amixer set 'IEC958 Playback Source' PCM
