no google n wikipedia

I just installed Gutsy, everything worked fine....i'm new to linux, so probably i messed something, but i can't find what.
I can use my internet properly see everything except google and wiki related pages, and can't understand how could that
happen??? i would appreciate any help. I tried with Konqueror and Firefox tooo. thx

What happens when you go to www.google.com? What exactly goes wrong?

it says page not found, surprisingly the problem with google.com is solved, but
i still cant see wiki-pages :(

open a terminal, and issue:

host -a wikipedia.org

(replace by the site you actually go to). You should see a series of lines. I am interested in the ';; ANSWER SECTION', but please copy here all you see. I suspect it is a name server issue.

Huh, I am not sure what you mean...

a) Common with Ubuntu? No. It is not. You problem does not seem to have been caused by Ubuntu itself, but my name resolution, also known as DNS. If you get a "page not found" this means that the name you enterred in Epiphany, Firefox, or Konqueror, or any other web browser could not be translated to an IP address -- or it could, you got there (wherever it was), and got hit by a 404.

b) what exactly do you mean with "what the heck is so special about some spaces"? Did you add spaces in between the URL?

by space i meant pages, hosts like wikipedia or google.
I was able to see 90% of addresses i entered, but not them...
But your solution is right, thanks again!!
