Shuttle XPC SG33G5

Asked by lexmol

I own a Shuttle SG33G5 (socket 775) with Intel E6750 Dual Core cpu and 4GB internal memoryon systeemboard Northbridge G33, South Bridge ICH9DH. Also VGA: G33 with GMA3100, sound: ALC888DD, ethernet: Marvell 88E8056.

HD's: 2 * ST3500641AS (baracuda 7200.9) of 500 GB and a Plextor PX-740A DVD-CD (re)writer.

I use Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon".

Question: Why can I not boot with the IA64 CD?, my CPU is 64 bit.

Problem: using the i386 CD the following happens:

PC boot and after telling the language and the keyboard layout the moving balk of Ubuntu comes up.
Affter a while it disconnues with the message:

BussyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu7) Builtin shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

                     this message again 2 times.

and finito.

Already installed Windows XP Prof and Windows Vista Ultimate.

What am I doing wrong or what goes wrong?

More important: how can I install Ubuntu?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Alternate Ubuntu CD gives a black screen after giving the language, the keyboard layout and start.

So I have to give up the installation of Ubuntu 7.10.

Has anybody ideas over how to get any Linux version to install on this machine?
