Looping at install

Installing to a compaq presario 061 I get to ubuntu's star install, press enter , see compaq's splash screen for a sec and go back to ubuntu's install. Is this specific to compaq, or am I missing something basic?

You may wish to try a new CD. It sounds like that might be due to a bad burn.
