Internet access using DLink DWL G520 wireless card

Asked by jcl3

I have loaded 7.10 version of Ubuntu and am trying to access the internet. I have a DLink DWL G520 wireless laptop card but can not find clear instructions on
if a driver is needed and/or how to install it. No doubt I am new to this operation system, but find it very incredible. Any help steering me in the right direction
would be much appreciated.

troubleshooting:

1. most laptops have an external switch which disables the network card, in case your in airplanes, be sure this is switched to ON
2. some hardware is not open source (is commercial) and you need to enable it in the System--->Administration--->Restricted Drivers Manager
be sure that it isn't on the list, or is checked to enabled.
3. really stupid question, but, are you sure there are wireless networks in range?

Can you help with this problem?
