Copy gpg key to another computer?

Asked by Eli L

I have just created a gpg/openpgp key for myself on my computer, but i have another computer (laptop) that I also use and i want to copy my key from one computer to another so I can read the encrypted emails I get. How do I do this?

Thank you :)

I believe copying the full ~/.gnupg directory should do it (at least thats what I did). You won't normally see this as it is hidden (you can use the ls -a command in terminal to see it).

Be very careful that there are not already keys in the .gnupg directory on the target machine. Do a 'gnupg --list-keys' first.
