Python 2.4-minimal fails to update on Edgy Eft Beta in recent update!

Asked by TFrog

I did an update last night and again today to make sure it wasn't me using Adept and fetch updates. Adept currently states I have 54 updates pending. However, when I update, I get an error when dpkg goes to configure python2.4-minimal package. At first I figured all I had to do was run sudo dpkg-reconfigure -a to clear this issue. Even after doing such and answering all questions in the reconfigure with the defaults it still locks Adept up and won't update past the python2.4-minimal package. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My system is a home built containing the following:

MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard
1 gig ram
ATI 7000VE video
1 - 80gig Seagate PATA IDE drive with Windows XP
1 - 120gig Seagate PATA IDE drive with 20gig VFAT partition and 100gig Kubuntu 6.10 partition
Sound Blaster 5.1 Live sound card

Could you please attach a full log of the update process?
Is it similar to the one reported in bug #64859?

I have a feeling this this might be caused by bug 56779.

Dear Mr. Rose,

I attempted most of if not all the possibilities in the suggested bug report
with no results other than the same I keep getting. Attached is a snapshot
taken when attempting to do the update from Adept. I've sent a email on to
another party in your organization with the same attachment. Hopefully
you'll be able to figure this out. Now I loaded Edgy on my Compaq Presario
R4125US today and did all the updates without a hitch. This could be a
dependency issue I'm running into since I removed some packages I don't need
or use. Will be reinstalling Edgy on here this afternoon. I'm typing this
very early morning and should be in bed.

Sincerely,
Terry L. Parris

Hi,

Can you please visit

and attach the file manually? I don't think it will attach via email.

Thanks!
